On most of my drawings, I like to use some wonky patterns, so this was a real challenge for me. Immediately I thought about Fassett and ING, two straight patterns, I really like too. I’ve made a combination with Munchin and Cubine and I was satisfied about the composition. I liked to add a little extra and have drawn an aura. To finish I have used my colored pencils and pens.

This is gorgeous, the blues add a perfect feel of peace and serenity. This piece really rezonates, you’ve taken straight lines on beautifully.

      Ria Matheussen says:

Thank you very much Simone, many times I want to make a tile in black and white, because that can be so beautiful, but almost every time, I finish with a bit of colour. I’m glad you like my tile.

Oh this is lovely. Reminds me of ice crystals growing in a cave…chilling to even look at.

Beautiful composition and ING does look 3D! You always do a wonderful job with color. Nicely done. (I prefer organic/curvy tangles as well). 🙂

That’s come out really nicely, think you’ve almost created an optical illusion with the ing that’s playing tricks on my eyes.

      Ria Matheussen says:

Mostly I’m drawing with more “organic” tangles, so it was a real challenge to make a tile without them. From the “straight” ones I like Fassett and ING the most, after that decision, I looked in my book of tangles and found Munchin and Cubine to finish the combination. Adding a little color is always very relaxing for me.

Ria! Love the rich Blue colour!! And the way you’ve coloured ING has given it so much depth. Fabulous tile. And thank you for all your wonderful comments on my tangled tiles through Google +! Means a lot to me! 🙂

You made a tile that reminds me on Maroc. I guess it is your blue! And the beige to it! Beautiful done!

  21. 13

This is really pretty with a good choice of straight line tangles. Your use of color adds to the depth. Speaking of color, I’m very jealous that you have seen the Northern Lights.

    • 18
      Ria Matheussen says:

Thank you Suzanne for this nice compliment. For me it was a bit coming out of the comfortzone but therefore I like this challenge.
To see the northern lights, I had to go three times to Iceland. Only the third time, I’ve seen it, and yes it was beautiful but it was only a few minutes there.

    Jean Chaney says:

It is a really pretty tile, Ria. The color is a nice addition. How about turning some curved tangles though into straight lines. Like what about an angular Mooka? Now that would be amazing LOL!

    • 16
      Ria Matheussen says:

      Thanks for the comment Jean.
Curved tangles turning into straight ones, seems to me very difficult. Honnestly, I ‘ve never tried it, but you never know…

      Ria Matheussen says:

Thanks Gudrun, black and white is nice but I like in most of my tiles to add a little color. I’m glad you like the result.
Your weekly tile shows a very nice composition, well chosen tangles, and nice contrasts between black/white and braun, well done!
