A few days before Christmas, I bought Eni Oken’s treasure frames. This is a lovely e-book in which she teaches us to draw wonderful frames, made of several tangles. So this is one of my results, finished soon after her lesson. I used this tile already to wish everybody a happy new year on my blogpost.  I removed the wishes and draw inside the frame Msst, Z-lines and Lisa’s new pattern Elojoe.  Now, the tile  is suitable for this challenge.  The original frame was drawn on an eco-dyed background. I have made a copy and unfortunately the backgroundcolours became a bit paler. A lot of tangles are used: Coil, Remo, Barberpole, N’Zeppel, Crescent Moon, Jetties, Shattuck, U-too, Printemps, Toodles-Flower, Slowpoke and Pokeleaf. I have drawn with black, braun and white pens and coloured with ordinary colourpencils.

Oh, Ria! What a beautiful tile!! The frame you have made is fantastic; the cheerful colors and the highlighting you’ve added really makes it come to life. You’ve really done a masterful job at combining a lot tangles into a cohesive and beautiful piece. And I am so flattered and honored that you have used my Elojoe! You’ve drawn and colored it so beautifully! It really makes me smile 🙂

Thank you Lisa for your kind words. I like to draw on coloured paper. It is for me easier to become stronger colours on this kind of backgrounds, just with ordinary colourpencils. Elojoe is an uncomplicated but lovely tangle, I’ ve added already on my personal legend! I’m glad you like the result.

I was just check for any challenges open yet and found Joey with your entry already. Ria, I have to agree with Trudi. Either your tile is huge and only looks small on the web, or you have the magical touch of crowding your tile with tangles without making it look crowded. Trudi, there is still a thing or two to learn for us (if we ever will!!!). Beautiful picturesque tile, Ria, with perfectly chosen tangle mix!!!! Love it!

As I wrote, the background of this tile is eco-dyed and that gives in reality a smoothly beautiful base to start tangling on. It is really worth to experiment with this technique of colouring. I admit there is some work and patience before you will receive the results but on the other side, it is possible to get many tiles with this procedure. I like to experiment as much as possible… I am satisfied about the final result and I’m glad you like it also.(tanglemix was just looking in my personal legend and make a choice)

I don’t know how you do it Ria, if I put that many Tangles in a tile it looks so overcrowded. I guess I just get carried away….to me you have really shown Less is More if done properly.

Thank you very much Trudi for this nice comment. Me too, am not always satisfied about every tile I’ ve made and there is still a lot to learn.
I have a few e-books that helped me and I admit, I learned a lot of Eni Oken’s lessons.

A wonderful artwork with this beautiful frame, Ria!
I like your warm colouring and the flowery Pokeleaf in the left corner. I think, the pale background looks friendly and sunny and let the patterns shine in its soft yellow light.

Thank you Margarete for this nice compliment which I appreciate very much.
You can see the pattern left as a flowery Pokeleaf but some people call them also Toodles-Flower (ultimatepatterncollections)For me they are in fact the same!
